Superstar Rajinikanth has issued his first statement following his discharge from Apollo Hospitals in Chennai, where he underwent a planned medical procedure to address swelling in his aorta. Admitted on September 30, the procedure was successfully carried out using a non-surgical transcatheter method.
In a heartfelt note shared on X (formerly Twitter), Rajinikanth expressed his gratitude for the overwhelming support he received during his recovery. He stated, “To all my political friends who wished me a speedy recovery, to all my film fraternity friends, to all my well-wishers, the press and media, my sincere thanks to you all. And to the fans who have made me, who keep me alive and love me immeasurably, praying for my well-being. I express my sincere gratitude to you all.”

Rajinikanth also took a moment to thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan for their concern. He wrote, “My dear honourable Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji … my heartfelt thanks to you for your care and concern regarding my health and checking on me personally. Thank you @SrBachchan ji for your love and showing such warm concern towards me … truly touched.”

On the professional front, Rajinikanth was last seen in Lal Salaam, directed by his daughter Aishwaryaa Rajinikanth, where he made a cameo appearance. The film featured Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth in lead roles. Last year, the superstar captivated audiences in Jailer, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar.
Rajinikanth’s fans eagerly await his next film, Coolie, which has generated significant buzz following the release of its action-packed teaser, showcasing the actor facing off against adversaries with a belt made of gold watches. The film is produced by Kalanidhi Maran’s Sun Pictures.
In addition to Coolie, Rajinikanth will appear in Vettaiyan, which marks the return of Amitabh Bachchan to Tamil cinema after a 33-year hiatus. The film also features an impressive cast, including Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier, and Ritika Singh.
The cast has recently completed dubbing for Vettaiyan, which is set to hit theaters on October 10 in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, and Kannada. The film will be Anirudh Ravichander’s fourth collaboration with Rajinikanth, following Petta, Darbar, and Jailer. The technical team includes cinematographer SR Kathir and editor Philomin Raj.
