Shiv Sena (UBT) member of parliament Arvind Sawant was on Friday booked by the Mumbai Police for his alleged controversial comment in opposition to Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena candidate Shaina NC.
In line with an ANI report, the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena filed a grievance in opposition to Sawant in Mumbai’s Nagpada police station for calling its candidate an “imported maal”.
“Have a look at her situation. She was within the BJP all her life and now she has gone to a different social gathering. Imported ‘maal’ doesn’t work right here, solely authentic ‘maal’ works right here,” Sawant was quoted by ANI as saying.
The Shiv Sena social gathering emphasised that beneath the provisions of the Bhartiya Nyay Sahita (Indian Penal Code), this behaviour quantities to an act of outraging a lady’s modesty, in violation of Sections 354 and 509 of the IPC.
“I’m writing to file a proper grievance in opposition to Arvind Sawant, a sitting Member of Parliament, for his derogatory and extremely objectionable remarks directed at Shaina NC, referring to her as a “actual maal” (translated as “attractive bomb”),” the Sena letter learn.
“This language, objectifying a lady in a public and influential setting, not solely demeans the person but additionally sends a deeply disturbing message to society, trivializing the respect and dignity of girls,” the letter stated.
