Jens Fehlinger will take over as CEO of Swiss International Air Lines.
He will take over his new position on October 1, 2024, replacing Dieter Vranckx, who will join the Lufthansa Group Executive Board on that same date.
Beginning his career in 2006, Jens Fehlinger (age 43) worked for the Lufthansa Group in a variety of managerial roles. He oversaw operational performance management for the Lufthansa Group and strategy and business development at Lufthansa Airlines, among other things. He led the ReNew restructuring project after overseeing the group’s crisis management office during the COVID pandemic. Jens has been the Co-Managing Director of Lufthansa Cityline and the Managing Director of the newly formed Lufthansa City Airlines in recent years.
Jens holds a commercial pilot’s license for the Airbus A320 and is currently an active pilot for Lufthansa Cityline. Jens graduated with honors from the University of Bremen, Germany’s Dipl.-Ing. program in Aviation Systems Engineering and Management, and the Technical University of Darmstadt, Germany’s M.Sc. program in Traffic and Transport. Additionally, the IE Business School in Madrid, Spain awarded him an Executive MBA.
Jens Fehlinger is a married man with two kids. Heike Birlenbach, Chief Commercial Officer SWISS, will act as interim CEO until Jens Fehlinger takes over.
