After Harbhajan Singh, Ravichandran Ashwin has become an indispensable off-spinner for Indian cricket. Even if Ashwin performs well across several forms, his impending age has forced the team to look for a new off-spinner to replace him.
Dinesh Karthik pointed out this development on Cricbuzz and said, “India is looking for a next-generation off-spinner. Tested during the three games in the current India “A” series versus the England Lion were three off-spinners: Saransh Jain, Washington Sundar, and Pulkit Narang.
Karthik stressed that for now, Washington Sundar is the main candidate to take Ashwin’s post. “Sundar has performed well with the limited chances he has; I believe he will get his due chance before others,” Karthik remarked.
