A step-by-step guide on how you can port your existing mobile number to BSNL
Sending an SMS to 1900 will get you a Unique Porting Code (UPC) first. Put ‘Port [space] 10 digit mobile number’ in writing. For J&K prepaid customers, sending an SMS is not an option; instead, you must call 1900.
For all service areas, with the exception of Jammu & Kashmir, Assam, and the North East, where the UPC is valid for 30 days from the date of the request or the number is ported out, whichever is earlier, regardless of how many requests the subscribers make, the UPC will be valid for 15 days from the date of the request or until the time the number is ported out, whichever is earlier.
After that, in order to transfer your mobile number, you must go to a BSNL CSC (Customer Service Center) or an authorized franchisee or store. Complete a Customer Application Form (CADF) and pay the processing port charge. There will be no costs associated with porting into BSNL. You’ll receive a brand-new BSNL SIM card.
