Julie Mathews is Director of Leisure Sales of Montage Laguna Beach, with responsibilities including development of key sales initiatives to build value-based relationships and loyalty, as well as oversight of sales strategy for the resort’s leisure segment. Tapping more than two decades of luxury hotel sales experience, Mathews is also focused on building and maintaining deep connections with guests, travel management accounts, retail travel agents, consortiums and wholesalers.
Appointed to Montage Laguna Beach’s team in January 2025, Mathews joined the flagship address following four years at Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal, where she was senior director of leisure sales. Her extensive luxury experience also includes directing global sales in the west coast region for The Peninsula Hotels for over a decade, and directing transient sales for The Island Hotel (now Pendry Newport Beach) in Newport Beach, California. She launched her career as catering manager/small meetings manager for The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel in 1998, and went on to hold sales management positions for The Ritz-Carlton, Marina Del Rey and Leading Hotels of the World.
A California native, Mathews earned a Bachelor of Science degree in hotels and restaurant management from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. She currently resides in Orange County where she enjoys traveling, trying new restaurants and spending time with her children.
