Giovanny Aldama Garcia, the 23-year-old canine proprietor, was charged with animal cruelty on Monday.

The person who left his canine tied to a fence on a freeway forward of Hurricane Milton’s landfall in Florida has been arrested. On October 9, a male bull terrier was rescued by Freeway Patrol Troopers on Interstate 75 in Tampa. The deserted canine’s rescue video rapidly went viral on social media, with netizens calling for the arrest of its proprietor. Nevertheless, Giovanny Aldama Garcia, 23, of Ruskin, was charged with animal cruelty on Monday.

Proprietor of canine deserted on freeway amid Hurricane Milton arrested for animal cruelty

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis condemned Garcia’s actions throughout a press convention on the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Workplace. “We had any person resolve, as Hurricane Milton approached, that it could one way or the other be a superb factor to take his canine and chain it to a publish on the interstate,” he stated.

DeSantis went on to state that following its rescue, the canine had since been named Trooper. Calling its proprietor’s actions “completely unacceptable,” DeSantis shared that Trooper is now awaiting adoption in Tallahassee. “We stated you’d be held accountable, and you’ll be held accountable,” he continued.

Dave Kerner, govt director of the Florida Division of Freeway Security and Motor Automobiles (FLHSMV), stated in an announcement shared on X: “Based mostly upon a subsequent prison investigation, State Troopers secured and executed a felony arrest warrant yesterday on Giovanny Aldama Garcia, 23, of Ruskin, Florida, for aggravated animal cruelty.”
