An auto driver was killed after he was hit by an SUV allegedly pushed by a 17-year-old pupil, who was reportedly drunk, on the Pune-Nashik freeway in Maharashtra on Saturday evening.
Two motorcyclists have been additionally injured by the SUV.
“The accused is 17 months and 10 months previous. He admitted throughout questioning that he was drunk on the time of the crash,” The Instances of India quoted a police officer as saying.
The boy is from Haryana and is the son of a junior commissioned officer (JCO) within the Indian Military, the report stated, including that he research at a central government-run residential faculty in Dighi close to Pune.
The car, owned by the minor’s 20-year-old pal who was with him, jumped the divider and hit the auto driver, recognized as Amod Kamble (27). The SUV’s occupants escaped with minor accidents.
Police detained the teenager driver and invoked drunk driving and different costs towards him.
Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) sections 105 (culpable murder) and 125-A (endangering private security of others), in addition to sections 184 (rash driving) and 185 (drunk driving) of the Motor Automobiles Act, have been invoked towards the accused.
Murtuza Bohra (32), an eyewitness who had a slim escape, stated the crash was identical to an “motion sequence from a film.”
“A black SUV jumped the divider and banged into an auto, a scooter and a bike,” stated Bohra, whose cousin Hujefa (28) was using the motorbike and was injured.
“The auto driver was caught within the mangled stays of his two-wheeler. We had a tricky time pulling him out. He was immobile,” Bohra added.
