Two types of the Putrada Ekadashi fast are as a fruit and water fast (Phalahar or Jaliya Vrat) or as a dry fast (Nirjala Vrat). Only those in great health should visit a Nirjala Vrat, wherein one abstains from even water intake. Most people choose for the Phalahar Vrat, which only consists of fruit and water.
