Highly anticipated hotel brings Hilton’s renowned service and exceptional stays to Tasmania.
Hilton (NYSE: HLT) announced the opening of DoubleTree by Hilton Hobart, a newly built 206-room hotel on Macquarie Street, Hobart. The hotel provides exceptional views of both Kunanyi/Mount Wellington and the Derwent River waterfront and enjoys easy access to the city’s cultural attractions. The hotel is managed by Hilton and marks the first Hilton hotel in Tasmania.
DoubleTree by Hilton Hobart encompasses seven room categories, offering up to 33 square metres of floor space in its 80 deluxe rooms. All rooms make the most of the capital city’s natural light with floor-to-ceiling windows, and feature an invigorating rain shower, 50-inch television, bluetooth speaker, hairdryer, and work desk.
The hotel offers breakfast, lunch, dinner and room service from Leatherwood Restaurant, highlighting local and seasonal produce on a menu of modern Australian cuisine. Leatherwood Restaurant is open to hotel guests and members of the public, seven days a week. A heated indoor pool, sauna, state-of-the-art gymnasium and two meeting spaces also feature within the property.
Guests can also look forward to the iconic DoubleTree by Hilton chocolate chip cookies on arrival which has become synonymous with the brand’s warm sense of hospitality, making sure every guest feels good from the moment they check in.
Owned by Fragrance Group and constructed by Hobart’s Hutchinson’s Builders, DoubleTree by Hilton Hobart is the latest addition to Hilton’s portfolio of 24 distinct hotel brands in more than 8,000 worldwide locations.

The opening of DoubleTree by Hilton Hobart comes as the award-winning brand surpasses 100 properties in Asia Pacific. With nearly 80 additional properties in the Asia Pacific pipeline, DoubleTree by Hilton will contribute to Hilton’s target to surpass 1,000 trading hotels in this region by 2025.
