Amid the presence of a herd of untamed elephants close to residential areas, the Chikkamagaluru district administration on Monday imposed restrictions on motion of individuals in 13 villages throughout two gram panchayats and declared a vacation for academic establishments to make sure security as forest division groups try to drive the elephants again to their habitat.
Chikkamagaluru deputy commissioner Meena Nagaraj stated: “Herds of untamed elephants have been seen close to villages, resulting in the vacation and restrictions to maintain residents indoors and stop incidents.” She stated that the forest division is working to direct the herd again to the forest and restrictions will stay till the scenario is resolved. The closures for faculties and schools could prolong to Tuesday if mandatory, she added.
Superintendent of police (SP) Vikram Amate stated that herds of elephants have been sighted for the reason that previous week close to 13 villages in Magtihalli and Vastare gram panchayats. After a request from the Aaluru vary forest division, police have been deployed to help forest officers and to forestall residents from approaching the herd in the course of the operation.
