The India Meteorological Division (IMD) on Wednesday issued a yellow alert for Bengaluru and surrounding districts, predicting average to heavy rainfall over the following 4 days from Thursday. The alert got here only a week after rainfall on account of cyclone Fengal affected the area.
The climate system chargeable for the rains is a low-pressure space forming over the Bay of Bengal, bringing moisture-laden winds to the state. Districts together with Bengaluru City, Bengaluru Rural, Chitradurga, Kolar, and Ramanagara will stay underneath yellow alert till December 13. Moreover, Dakshina Kannada and Udupi are anticipated to obtain heavy rainfall by December 14.
GS Patil, an IMD scientist, stated that the cyclonic circulation within the Bay of Bengal was resulting in the formation of moisture-laden winds, which might trigger rainfall throughout the state. “We anticipate average to heavy rain in components of the state, notably within the coastal and southern districts,” he stated.
Rain has already been reported in a number of districts, together with Dakshina Kannada, Davanagere, Gadag, and Kalaburagi. In the meantime, temperatures have dropped by 4-6°C in areas like Belagavi, Bidar, and Vijayapura, with Chikkamagaluru recording a low of 13.4°C. In Bengaluru, temperatures are anticipated to vary between 18°C and 30°C over the approaching days.
