Fairmont Orchid, a luxury resort along the Kohala Coast of Hawaiʻi Island, is pleased to announce the appointment of Chef Zaid Khan as its new Executive Chef. In his role, Chef Khan will lead all creative and strategic initiatives across the resort’s six restaurants, as well as hotel-wide events. His passion for sustainable dining practices and commitment to supporting local farms and fishermen will enhance the property’s culinary offerings.
Chef Khan brings a wealth of experience from his previous roles as Executive Chef at Fairmont Copley in Boston, Banquet Chef at Seattle’s Fairmont Olympic Hotel, and Sous Chef at Fairmont Southampton in Bermuda. His international culinary journey has taken him from Australia’s Hamilton Island to Vancouver, Canada, where he refined his approach to food inspired by local, sustainable ingredients.
Born and raised in Brisbane, Australia, Chef Khan developed an early appreciation for fresh seafood, thanks to the city’s proximity to the Gold and Sunshine Coasts. He fondly remembers learning the art of using spices from his grandmother in Fiji and credits his mother for instilling in him the importance of farm-to-table practices. His family raised their own livestock, harvested fresh produce, and fished their own catch—a philosophy that remains at the core of Chef Khan’s culinary approach today.
