Gonzalo Aguilar will take over as CEO for Europe and the Americas, while Minor Hotels’ Ramón Aragonés has announced his retirement.
Gonzalo Aguilar has been appointed CEO of Minor Hotels Europe & Americas, effective January 1, 2025, according to a statement released by Minor Hotels, a prominent worldwide hotel owner and operator. Current CEO Ramón Aragonés, who is set to retire at the end of this year, will be replaced by Aguilar. Aragonés will continue to hold the position of non-executive vice chairman and member of the board of directors. On October 1, Aguilar starts working with Minor Hotels Europe & Americas, starting a three-month handover period with Aragonés.
In response to Aragonés’ retirement, Dillip Rajakarier, CEO of Minor Hotels and President of Minor Hotels Europe & Americas, stated: “Ramón has devoted his entire career to the hotel sector.” He became a member of the group in 2009, when it was still known as NH Hotel Group, and has since played a major role in turning it into one of the top hospitality groups in the Americas and Europe. Throughout his tenure, he has shown inspiring leadership, vision, and unwavering dedication. In addition to honoring his enormous legacy, we are grateful for his outstanding contributions to Minor Hotels today.”

Minor Hotels will continue to prosper thanks to his priceless insights into the multi-brand and asset-light hotel market in Europe and the Americas.”
Aguilar joins Minor Hotels with over thirty years of industry experience. Prior to joining the team, he served as Chief Operating Officer for EMEA at Marriott, where he oversaw record earnings and growth in the area. Aguilar oversaw many significant moments during his tenure at Marriott, including the integration of AC Hotels after Marriott purchased it. Prior to taking up executive roles in Europe, Aguilar also held the position of general manager for Marriott properties across the Americas. As a restaurant manager at the Denver Marriott Tech in Colorado, he started his career with Marriott in 1994.
