Early Life and Education

Arijit Mitra was born on March 1, 1989, in Panpara, Nadia, West Bengal. Arijit showed early signs of a strong interest in serving others and hospitality, traits that would later define his professional career. He put a lot of effort into his studies, earning his Madhyamik Exam in 2004 and his Higher Secondary Exam in 2006 from respectable West Bengali schools. His scholastic experience provided a solid basis for his future aspirations in the hospitality sector.

Because of his love of serving people, Arijit enrolled in the School of Indian Hotel Management in Kalyani, Nadia, where he studied from 2006 to 2009 for a diploma in hotel management and catering technology. He gained the fundamental knowledge and abilities needed for a lucrative career in hotel management from this program. Arijit is technical proficiency was further enhanced in 2011 when he obtained a Diploma in Computer Application (DCA) from the Rajeev Gandhi Computer Saksharta Mission, in addition to his formal education.

 

Professional Beginnings

In 2007, Arijit underwent industrial training at Ras Resort in Silvassa, Dadra & Nagar Haveli, India, marking the start of his professional career. He gained useful knowledge about the operations of the hospitality sector from this experience, which also strengthened his enthusiasm for housekeeping and guest relations.

In 2008, Arijit undertook a one-year Hotel Operation Training Program at The Imperial Palace in Rajkot, Gujarat. This comprehensive training allowed him to gain hands-on experience in various aspects of hotel operations, setting the stage for his future roles in the industry.

 

Career Progression

Arijit is first notable position was from May 2009 to August 2010 as a Housekeeping Room Attendant at The Imperial Palace in Rajkot, Gujarat. In this role, he was in charge of making sure the hotel’s high standards were met by the guest rooms. He soon gained recognition for his excellent service skills, attention to detail, and dedication.

From November 2012 to November 2013, he worked as a housekeeping supervisor at Royal Orchid Central Kireeti in Hospet, Karnataka, before moving up to a supervisory position. Arijit demonstrated his leadership skills by conducting staff briefings, keeping inventory records, and effectively overseeing housekeeping operations when the Head of Department (HOD) was not present.

 

Roles of Leadership

Arijit is career progressed as he assumed increasingly important responsibilities. He worked as the Housekeeping Executive (HOD) at the Clarks Inn in Hubli, Karnataka, from April 2014 to July 2017. In this capacity, he oversaw and planned daily housekeeping duties, making sure the hotel upheld strict guidelines for cleanliness and visitor comfort. In addition, he was a key player in hiring, training, and performance reviews of employees.

His next position was as the Housekeeping Manager (HOD) at the Spree Shivai Hotel in Pimpri, Pune, Maharashtra, from December 2017 to May 2022. Arijit oversaw the housekeeping division, carried out training sessions and briefings, and put cost-control measures into place. His capacity to create monthly reports, oversee work schedules, and guarantee task completion on time demonstrated his efficiency and organizational abilities.

After that, from August 2022 to July 2023, Arijit worked as the Housekeeping Manager (HOD) for Howard Johnson By Wyndham in Kolkata, West Bengal. In this role, he oversaw the annual budget, created housekeeping systems and procedures, kept inventory under control, and made sure the entire hotel was clean and organized. Current Role

Here, he oversees the housekeeping operations of a 4-star hotel with 68 rooms, ensuring excellence in sanitation, safety, and guest comfort. Arijit is responsible for organizing, supervising, and coordinating daily tasks, hiring new employees, and maintaining high standards through regular staff meetings and training. His efforts in managing inventory, maintenance, and implementing new cleaning techniques and products contribute significantly to the hotel’s overall efficiency and guest satisfaction.

Personal Life
