Fly91 Adds Daily Kochi–Agatti Flights, Expanding to 15 Stations
Fly91 will launch daily Kochi–Agatti services and expand its network to 15 destinations, strengthening connectivity in South India’s regional segments.
Low-cost regional carrier Fly91 has announced it will launch daily flights connecting Kochi in Kerala with Agatti in Lakshadweep, as part of a broader network expansion that will take its route map to 15 stations across India.
The new Kochi–Agatti service, scheduled to commence in the coming weeks, reflects Fly91’s strategic push deeper into underserved regional and leisure markets. Agatti Aerodrome, serving one of the main islands in the Lakshadweep archipelago, has limited connectivity from the Indian mainland. Daily flights from Kochi — a major transport hub with rail, sea and air access — are expected to stimulate inbound tourism and provide dependable year-round service for locals, expatriates and visitors.
Fly91’s expansion to 15 stations marks continued growth for a carrier that entered India’s regional aviation segment with a fleet of narrowbody turboprop and small jet aircraft tailored to operate from shorter runways and constrained airports. Its network currently spans several South Indian, Western and Eastern regional points, blending commercial frequency with demand-responsive scheduling.
Industry observers note that expanding services to island and coastal leisure destinations supports economic development via improved accessibility. Analysts anticipate that daily flights between Kochi and Agatti could drive increased visitor arrivals, particularly during shoulder and peak tourism seasons. Reliable air links are often a prerequisite for growth in sectors such as hospitality, water sports and island-based cruise operations.
For Fly91, adding the Agatti sector underscores its operational focus on regional connectivity under India’s UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik) framework, which incentivises flights to remote and low-traffic airports. By establishing regular services on routes with limited competition, Fly91 has carved out a niche in linking secondary cities and unique destinations with larger hubs like Kochi.
Operational rollout of the Kochi–Agatti flights will involve coordination with airport authorities and civil aviation regulators to ensure infrastructure readiness and slot allocation. Agatti’s runway and apron facilities accommodate smaller regional aircraft, necessitating precise aircraft selection and weight management to maximise passenger and cargo loads while maintaining safety margins.
Fly91’s leadership emphasised that scaling to 15 network stations reflects both demand momentum and confidence in regional travel recovery post-pandemic. The airline has also been enhancing its crew rostering, ground support and scheduling systems to maintain reliability as frequencies increase.
Passengers on the new service can expect multiple daily frequencies, which improve flexibility for business and leisure travellers alike. Scheduling will aim to optimise connectivity with onward services at Kochi and other interlinked points in Fly91’s network, reducing layover times and smoothing transfer flows.
Airline network planners detail that such incremental route launches are typically phased based on booking patterns, competitor actions and airport infrastructure cadence. By securing daily operations early in its lifecycle, Fly91 is positioning itself to build consistent load factors and revenue yield on sectors that have historically been underserved.
For airports like Kochi and Agatti, the enhanced schedule represents a significant development for runway utilisation and ancillary revenue, including passenger service fees, concessions and ground handling contracts. Regional carriers such as Fly91 support the broader aviation ecosystem by increasing aircraft movements and integrating smaller markets into national air traffic flows.
As Fly91 enters its next phase of network expansion, industry stakeholders will watch how the carrier balances route proliferation with operational stability, crew management and customer service standards — all critical factors in maintaining a competitive posture in India’s dynamic domestic aviation market.
