Saudi Arabia‑based low‑cost carrier flynas has signed an agreement with the Syrian General Authority of Civil Aviation and Air Transport to launch a new commercial airline named flynas Syria. The partnership, announced in 2026, marks a strategic collaboration designed to strengthen regional air connectivity, support tourism growth, and foster development across Syria’s aviation sector.

flynas Syria will operate as a joint venture, with 51% ownership held by the Syrian aviation authority and 49% by flynas. The new airline is expected to begin operations in late 2026, initially serving key routes across the Middle East, with potential expansion into European and other international destinations.

The partnership reflects deeper economic and civil aviation cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Syria, aligning with broader efforts to rebuild Syria’s infrastructure and economy following years of conflict. Officials say flynas Syria will improve accessibility to historical and cultural destinations within Syria, while also providing affordable travel options for both business and leisure travellers.

Industry observers note that the launch of flynas Syria complements recent investments aimed at enhancing airport capacity and telecommunications infrastructure, which could further benefit travellers by improving services and connectivity.

The initiative highlights a new era of aviation collaboration in the region and could contribute to increased tourism, trade, and broader economic recovery for Syria if sustained over the long term.
