Mangaluru, December 25, 2025:
The Asha Prakash Shetty Sahaya Hasta Programme – ‘Neravu’, a flagship social welfare initiative led by MRG Group Chairman Dr K Prakash Shetty, marked a significant milestone by disbursing ₹9.5 crore in financial assistance to over 4,000 beneficiaries and 100 organisations. The grand distribution ceremony was held at Goldfinch City, Mangaluru, on December 25.
The programme was inaugurated by Speaker of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly, UT Khader, who praised Dr K Prakash Shetty for his unwavering commitment to social service and humanitarian values. Describing ‘Neravu’ as a living example of compassion and social responsibility, Khader noted that the initiative has positively transformed thousands of lives across Karnataka.
“Dr Prakash Shetty has consistently stood at the forefront of social service. His simplicity, compassion, and commitment have instilled confidence and dignity among the underprivileged,” UT Khader said.
President of Alva’s Education Foundation, Dr M Mohan Alva, highlighted the long-term impact of the initiative, stating that over the past seven years, the Neravu programme has distributed nearly ₹25 crore to approximately 15,000 beneficiaries. The assistance has supported persons with disabilities, patients requiring critical medical care, students seeking educational aid, and achievers in education, culture, and sports.
Under the programme, students received educational support ranging from ₹10,000 to ₹1 lakh, while voluntary organisations were granted financial assistance between ₹1 lakh and ₹5 lakh. These grants have enabled organisations to expand their community outreach and social services.
Addressing the gathering, Dr K Prakash Shetty reflected on his personal journey, sharing that the hardships he faced during his childhood and his belief in coexistence inspired him to dedicate a portion of his earnings to societal welfare. He encouraged beneficiaries to carry forward the spirit of giving by supporting others whenever possible.
The event was further graced by Kannada film producer Ashwini Puneeth Rajkumar, who joined other dignitaries in distributing financial assistance. Also present was MRG Group Managing Director Gaurav P. Shetty, son of Dr K Prakash Shetty, reinforcing the Group’s continued commitment to social responsibility and community welfare.
The ‘Neravu’ initiative continues to stand as a powerful platform for compassion-driven, community-centric development, promoting inclusive growth and social empowerment.
