Rohit Kumar Singh Appointed to Leadership Role at US–India Strategic Partnership Forum
Rohit Kumar Singh, a former Secretary in India’s Department of Consumer Affairs, has been appointed as Chair of the Global Value Chains Committee and Advisor to the Board of the US–India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF), marking a significant milestone in his post‑government career and strengthening India‑US economic cooperation. Singh, a 1989‑batch Indian Administrative Service officer of the Rajasthan cadre, brings decades of experience in economic governance, regulatory reform, digital governance, and public‑private partnership frameworks to his new role. His appointment was announced in early February 2026.
Role and Strategic Mandate
In his capacity as Chair of the Global Value Chains Committee at USISPF, Singh will work with industry leaders, government stakeholders, and international partners to advance resilient and diversified global supply chains, promote regulatory alignment, and foster collaborative investment and infrastructure initiatives. His role also includes advising the USISPF Board of Directors on strategic priorities that support trade, technology, and economic collaboration between India and the United States. The Global Value Chains Committee is a key platform within USISPF that focuses on enhancing supply chain resilience, streamlining cross‑border regulatory frameworks, and encouraging innovation across value networks — especially at a time of global economic realignment.
Experience and Policy Contributions
During his tenure as Secretary of the Department of Consumer Affairs, Singh played a pivotal role in modernising India’s consumer protection ecosystem. He led the development of an AI‑enabled grievance redressal system that improved case resolution efficiency and expanded multi‑channel accessibility, significantly enhancing consumer engagement. His administrative legacy also includes digital transformation initiatives and leadership in large‑scale regulatory frameworks. Singh’s post‑retirement roles have included serving on quasi‑judicial bodies and advisory capacities that leverage his public policy insights and execution capabilities.
Significance of the Appointment
The USISPF is a prominent platform that brings together government, industry leaders, and thought leaders from India and the United States to strengthen strategic cooperation, particularly in trade, technology, energy, and supply chain domains. Singh’s appointment signals a deeper integration of Indian policy expertise into global value chain dialogues, especially at a time when economic cooperation and supply chain resilience are key priorities for both countries. As Chair and Board Advisor, Singh is expected to influence policy discussions that affect bilateral trade flows, regulatory collaboration, infrastructure cooperation, and investment partnerships, contributing toward long‑term strategic goals that support both economic growth and global competitiveness.
