Thiruvananthapuram Airport Handles Record 4.5 Lakh Passengers in January 2026
Thiruvananthapuram International Airport recorded its highest ever monthly passenger traffic in January 2026, handling over 4.5 lakh travellers with strong domestic and international growth.
Thiruvananthapuram International Airport achieved a historic milestone in January 2026 by handling a record 4,50,090 passengers, the highest monthly passenger count in the airport’s history. The daily average passenger traffic also crossed the 15,000 mark, highlighting sustained travel demand through the key aviation gateway in southern India.
International travel contributed significantly to this milestone, with 2,27,275 international passengers recorded during the month. Domestic traffic also remained strong, with the airport serving 2,22,815 domestic passengers in January.
The airport managed a total of 2,751 air traffic movements (ATMs) throughout the month, demonstrating robust airline operations and improved capacity utilisation.
Airport operator Thiruvananthapuram International Airport Ltd (TIAL) noted that these record‑breaking results reflect the growing preference for Thiruvananthapuram as a regional gateway and the continuing focus on enhancing connectivity, operational performance, and overall passenger experience.
TIAL also emphasised its commitment to strengthening infrastructure, expanding services, and adopting passenger‑centric initiatives to support seamless travel and bolster economic and tourism growth in the region.
