India’s aviation regulator, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), has issued over 350 notices to airlines since January 2024, reflecting increased regulatory scrutiny across the sector.

Among domestic carriers, IndiGo has received the highest number of notices, highlighting the challenges airlines face in maintaining operational and safety compliance amid rapid expansion and high passenger volumes.

DGCA notices are typically issued for issues related to safety procedures, maintenance, crew operations, and regulatory adherence. Officials have maintained that the actions are part of routine oversight aimed at strengthening aviation safety standards rather than punitive measures.

As India’s aviation market continues to grow at a fast pace, regulators are expected to maintain strict monitoring to ensure airlines scale responsibly while meeting safety and operational requirements.
