New Delhi: GAIL (India) Limited today announced the appointment of Shri Deepak Gupta, Director (Projects), as the new Chairman and Managing Director (CMD), effective from the date of assumption of charge on or after 1 March 2026. His tenure will continue until 28 February 2029 or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
In his new role, Shri Gupta will be responsible for steering the organisation’s strategic direction, overseeing operational excellence, and driving growth initiatives across GAIL’s diverse energy portfolio.

Shri Deepak Gupta is a seasoned energy and infrastructure professional with extensive experience in natural gas pipeline projects, LNG operations, and large-scale energy infrastructure development. He has been serving as Director (Projects) at GAIL, leading multiple strategic projects, and has played a key role in expanding GAIL’s LNG, pipeline, and city gas distribution initiatives.
His leadership is expected to strengthen GAIL’s project execution and operational efficiency as the company continues to grow in the Indian and global energy markets. As India accelerates its push towards cleaner energy and infrastructure expansion, strong leadership at key PSUs like GAIL remains critical. Shri Gupta’s appointment is anticipated to support the company’s long-term vision, stakeholder value creation, and alignment with national energy objectives.
