Rozgar Mela 2.0, organised by the Darjeeling Welfare Society under the leadership of Hon’ble Member of Parliament Harshvardhan Shringla, witnessed a remarkable turnout, with more than 9,000 young aspirants participating in pursuit of meaningful employment opportunities. The large-scale initiative aligns strongly with the Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of building a skilled and empowered workforce through accessible employment pathways.

The event garnered distinguished participation from key leaders and policymakers. Among the dignitaries present were Hon’ble Governor of West Bengal C.V. Ananda Bose, Member of Parliament Samik Bhattacharya (State President, BJP Bengal), MP Dr. Jayanta Kumar Roy, Ram Lal (Rashtriya Sah-Sampark Pramukh), MLA Anandamay Barman, MLA Smt. Sikha Chatterjee, and MLA Durga Murmu.

A virtual address was also delivered by Shobha Karandlaje, Union Minister of State for MSME, Labour & Employment, who commended the initiative for strengthening employability and enabling direct industry-youth connect. THSC also acknowledged the support of Father (Dr.) Babu Joseph, Principal of Salesian College Siliguri, for extending institutional support to the event.

The Tourism & Hospitality Skill Council (THSC) served as the Knowledge Partner for the Rozgar Mela. In collaboration with the Darjeeling Welfare Society and CIEL HR, THSC played a significant role in mobilizing leading industry employers and ensuring sector-focused hiring outcomes.

More than 55 companies participated in the job fair, including 24+ prominent brands from the tourism and hospitality sector. Leading employers such as Indigo Airlines, Taj, Apollo Sindoori, Sterling Holidays, Devyani Group, Barbeque Nation, Absolute Barbecue, PVR, Compass Group, Sodexo and Club Mahindra were among the industry participants. The event generated over 2,500 confirmed job offers, with further selections currently under process as employer evaluations continue.
