Air India has grounded one of its Boeing 787‑8 Dreamliner aircraft after a technical issue was reported during routine operations. The decision was taken as a precautionary step while engineers carry out detailed checks on the aircraft.

According to information shared by airline sources, the issue was noticed by the flight crew during engine start procedures when a fuel-related control did not behave as expected. Although the aircraft landed safely and there was no risk to passengers, the airline chose to remove the jet from service immediately.

Air India has informed India’s aviation regulator, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, and is working closely with Boeing to understand the cause of the problem. Inspections are currently underway to determine whether the issue is isolated or requires wider checks across the fleet.

The fuel control system is a critical component that manages fuel flow to the engines. Any irregular behaviour, even if minor, is treated seriously by airlines due to the potential safety implications.

This latest incident comes at a time when aircraft safety systems are under close watch globally, and airlines are exercising increased caution when technical alerts are reported. Air India said it remains committed to maintaining high safety standards and will return the aircraft to service only after all required checks are completed.

Regulatory authorities are expected to review inspection findings before deciding if further action is necessary.
