The Airbus is no longer in production, but the aircraft continues to operate with a limited number of airlines and specialised operators. In 2026, the value of an A340 varies significantly depending on age, condition, configuration, and maintenance status.
When it was in production, list prices for different A340 variants ranged from approximately $200 million to over $270 million, depending on the model. However, in today’s secondary market, prices are substantially lower due to the aircraft’s four-engine design and higher operating costs compared to modern twin-engine widebodies.
Used A340 aircraft can sell for a fraction of their original list price. Older A340-300 models may trade at relatively low valuations, while later-generation A340-600 aircraft with updated interiors and strong maintenance records can command higher resale prices.
