China Eastern Airlines plans to expand its India operations with a new Mumbai–Shanghai service starting in May, strengthening bilateral connectivity.

China eastern is set to expand its operations in India with plans to introduce a new direct service between shangai and mumbai starting in May.
The new route is expected to strengthen air connectivity between India and China, supporting business travel, tourism, and cargo movement between the two major economic centres.
Shanghai serves as one of China’s leading financial and commercial hubs, while Mumbai is India’s financial capital. Direct air links between the two cities are seen as strategically important for trade and corporate travel.
The expansion reflects renewed momentum in bilateral aviation ties as international travel demand continues to recover. Additional capacity on key routes may also improve connectivity options for passengers travelling onward within China and beyond.
Further operational details, including frequency and aircraft deployment, are expected to be confirmed closer to the launch date.
