Tróia Design Hotel Joins Community Beach Cleanup and Renews Biosphere Certification

Tróia Design Hotel Supports Community Beach Cleanup and Strengthens Sustainability Credentials

Tróia Design Hotel has renewed its international Biosphere certification — an accolade recognising tourism businesses that embed sustainability, social responsibility and good governance into daily operations.

Participating in Wild Tróia Coastal Cleanup

On 17 January, the hotel participated in the Wild Tróia initiative, a community‑driven coastal cleanup project on the Tróia Peninsula. Nearly 95 volunteers joined forces to collect 1.14 tonnes of waste from beaches including Bico das Lulas and Costa Galé.

Hotel’s Role in the Initiative

As a partner in the Wild Tróia effort, Tróia Design Hotel provided logistical support and refreshments, preparing 70 kits with water, juice, sandwiches, pastries, cookies, energy bars and fruit for volunteers — with assistance from suppliers such as Sogenave and Aviludo.

Commitment to Sustainable Hospitality

The Biosphere certification renewal reflects the hotel’s ongoing commitment to environmental protection, responsible consumption, reduced plastic use and engagement with the local community — all while operating within a protected Natural Reserve.

Conclusion

By renewing its sustainability certification and actively engaging in community environmental action, Tróia Design Hotel reinforces its role as a responsible hospitality leader on Portugal’s Alentejo coast.
