The Kimpton Schofield Hotel is proud to announce the appointment of William Mehalco as its new General Manager, bringing with him over two decades of hospitality leadership experience and a strong connection to Northeast Ohio.

Mehalco most recently served as General Manager of Royalton Park Avenue in New York City, managed by Highgate Hotels Group. There he was an active member of the Highgate Business Council and its Community Affairs program. During his tenure, he participated in numerous charitable initiatives through Highgate's foundation, including the 9/11 Memorial Run/Walk 5K, Operation Backpack, Making Strides of Central Park, and efforts supporting the New York Common Pantry. He was nominated for leader of the year for 2024 during their annual meeting in New Orleans.

He joined the Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants brand in 2015, helping lead the repositioning of Hotel Eventi, and later worked with IHG Hotels & Resorts to support the reopening of EVEN Midtown South during the pandemic. Earlier in his career, Mehalco served as General Manager of New York City's first Hotel Indigo (now Hotel Hayden), located in Chelsea.

Recognized for his commitment to both operational excellence and community engagement, Mehalco was named Alumnus of the Year by his alma mater in 2012 and has served on the board of the Flatiron/NoMad Association in Manhattan.

A Northeast Ohio native, Mehalco was born and raised near Youngstown. He earned his Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management from Youngstown State University. A passionate long-distance runner, he has completed the New York City Marathon twice and more than 30 additional races. He's also a devoted fan of Cleveland's hometown teams and Chelsea Football Club.

Mehalco is thrilled to be returning to the region with his family and looks forward to rejoining the Kimpton family as he leads the team at the Kimpton Schofield Hotel.
