Baa Atoll Council partners with Freedive Maldives for record-breaking diving event

Baa Atoll Council has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Freedive Maldives to organise “Baani,” a large-scale diving event set to take place on October 3 in the Angafaru area. The event aims to bring together approximately 1,000 participants for a simultaneous dive, with the goal of setting a Guinness World Record.

Open to divers from across the Maldives, including those from inhabited islands and resorts within Baa Atoll, the event is part of the region’s World Tourism Day celebrations. According to Baa Atoll Council, “Baani” seeks to highlight environmental conservation efforts while reinforcing Baa Atoll’s status as a leading tourist destination.

The council is also working in collaboration with the Baa Atoll Biosphere Reserve, further aligning the event with sustainability and marine protection initiatives.
