Decatur County United Fund Welcomes New Board Members

Decatur County United Fund has announced the appointment of new members to its board of directors, reinforcing its leadership team and commitment to community development.They are Chris Bedel, Tony McLaughlin, Laura Walsman.

Bedel is the President, Founder and CEO of Bedel Security and has been with the company for 11 years. He is originally from Millhousen, and has lived in Greensburg a majority of his life. Bedel graduated from South Decatur High School and Purdue University with a Bachelor of Science in Management with a Management Information Systems minor. He is married to Amanda and they have four children. Bedel enjoys camping, hiking, and other travel.

McLaughlin has served as Materials Manager at Delta Faucet Company for the last six years, and previously worked at GECOM Corporation for 29 years. He is a Greensburg native and graduated from Greensburg High School in 1990. McLaughlin is married to Jill and in his spare time enjoys hunting, fishing, Jeeping and basically anything outdoors. He is an usher at St. Mary’s Church, helps with the St. Mary’s Church Festival, and is a member of Knights of Columbus and the Knights of St. John. McLaughlin also serves on the Greensburg Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. 

Walsman is the Director ofPractice Operations and Physician Recruiter at Decatur County Memorial Hospital and has been there for 15 years. She is originally from Greensburg, and she and her husband Ryan have four children. McLaughlin graduated from South Decatur High School and Ball State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training. She enjoys working out, playing recreational softball and volleyball, reading, watching her children play multiple sports, and spending quality time with family and friends. She is currently a member of Greensburg Chamber of Commerce Board and St. Mary’s Parish.

The addition of new board members is aimed at strengthening governance, enhancing strategic oversight, and supporting the organization’s mission to serve local residents through funding and community initiatives. Board members play a critical role in guiding nonprofit strategy, ensuring accountability, and fostering partnerships across the community.

With diverse professional backgrounds and community involvement, the newly appointed directors are expected to contribute fresh perspectives and expertise to the organization’s ongoing programs and fundraising efforts.

 As a key nonprofit serving Decatur County, the United Fund continues to focus on addressing local needs, supporting partner agencies, and promoting collaborative solutions. Strengthening board leadership ensures the organization remains well-positioned to advance its mission and sustain long-term impact.
