Adani Airport Holdings Ltd. (AAHL), India’s largest private airport operator, has awarded a deal to Thales to improve airport operations and enhance passenger experiences across the country.Thales has already implemented its Fly to Gate solution at seven AAHL airports in early 2024, making travel smoother for millions of passengers, the companies said in a joint statement Wednesday. This system allows pre-enrolled travelers to use facial recognition technology, reducing the need for ID checks and boarding passes at various stages, and cutting passenger processing time by up to 30%.AAHL has now awarded Thales an additional contract to deploy an Airport Operation Control Centre (APOC) solution at all its airports. The value of the deal wasn’t disclosed.This cloud-based platform will gather operational data from airport systems, using automation, big data analytics, and artificial intelligence to improve overall management, security, and passenger flow. The APOC solution is designed to increase efficiency by predicting and addressing resource shortages.Thales' Country Director for India, Ashish Saraf, said that these solutions will help streamline airport operations and support India's goal of becoming the world’s largest aviation market by 2047.DigiYatra, a government-led initiative, plays a key role in this process by using facial biometrics to verify passenger identity, aligning with India’s vision of a digital future. The seven AAHL airports equipped with this technology are Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Guwahati, Jaipur, Lucknow, Mangaluru, and Thiruvananthapuram.
