MONTE CARLO, Monaco, June 2, 2026 — Hotel Metropole Monte Carlo has unveiled the first phase of a major accommodation redesign led by renowned French designer Jacques Garcia, introducing a more restrained and contemporary interpretation of the property’s luxury identity. The renovation covers 45 rooms and suites and forms part of a broader modernization strategy for one of Monaco’s most historic independent hotels.
The latest transformation reflects the hotel's effort to balance its Belle Époque heritage with evolving guest expectations while maintaining its position within Monte Carlo’s luxury hospitality market.
Hotel Metropole Monte Carlo Begins New Design Chapter
Located in Monaco’s prestigious Carré d’Or district, Hotel Metropole Monte Carlo traces its origins to 1889 and remains one of the principality’s most recognized independent luxury hotels. The property has worked with Jacques Garcia for decades, with the designer previously overseeing a large-scale renovation in 2004.
The newly completed rooms showcase a softer design approach inspired by Riviera colors. Selected floors feature palettes of pale blue and warm yellow, creating a lighter atmosphere compared to Garcia’s earlier, more dramatic interiors.
Redesigned Suites Introduce Modern Luxury Features
The updated accommodations incorporate premium materials and craftsmanship throughout. Suites now feature freestanding bathtubs from Devon & Devon, private marble bars crafted from Calacatta Borghini stone and wall coverings by Colefax & Fowler.
Several junior suites include custom-designed multifunctional furniture that combines writing desks and dressing tables while concealing integrated televisions, maximizing both comfort and functionality.
Guerlain Spa Debuts in Monaco
The renovation project also includes the launch of Monaco’s first Guerlain Spa. Designed by Paris-based studio Itani & Courtois, the wellness destination features ten treatment rooms and exclusive therapies developed specifically for Hotel Metropole Monte Carlo.
The spa complements the property's existing luxury amenities and strengthens its appeal among wellness-focused travelers visiting the French Riviera.
Dining and Hospitality Continue to Evolve
Hotel Metropole Monte Carlo remains home to several acclaimed dining concepts, including Les Ambassadeurs by Christophe Cussac. The restaurant, which earned two Michelin stars shortly after opening, recently underwent its own redesign under Garcia's direction.
The hotel also continues to operate Yoshi, Monaco’s only Michelin-starred Japanese restaurant, alongside seasonal culinary experiences at Odyssey, the property’s iconic poolside venue.
Luxury Hotel Adapts to Changing Traveler Expectations
The latest redesign demonstrates how established luxury hotels are adapting to modern guest preferences while preserving their historical character. Hotel Metropole Monte Carlo’s updated accommodations, wellness facilities and dining experiences reflect a strategy focused on maintaining relevance within an increasingly competitive luxury hospitality landscape.
As Monaco continues attracting affluent leisure and business travelers from around the world, the property’s ongoing investment reinforces its standing as one of the Riviera’s most distinguished independent hotels.
