Maharashtra leads India in event-driven tourism growth, industry report shows

Maharashtra has emerged as India’s leading state for event-driven tourism in 2026, supported by a high volume of conferences, exhibitions and large-scale cultural gatherings, according to a new industry report, highlighting the state’s growing role in business and leisure travel demand.

The report, released in March 2026, said Maharashtra recorded the highest share of event-led travel activity in the country, driven by infrastructure capacity, connectivity and a concentration of major venues across cities such as Mumbai and Pune.
