COLUMBUS, Ohio, May 29, 2026 — The former Bogey Inn site at 6013 Glick Road in Dublin is once again without a confirmed future, after Rise Brands scrapped its entertainment campus redevelopment in late February, leaving the property's long-term plans unresolved as central Ohio's wider restaurant scene continues to see new openings and expansions across multiple communities.

Rise Brands CEO Hana Hesselgesser, who joined the company in January, confirmed the cancellation to NBC4 partner The Columbus Dispatch, describing the decision as "disappointing" and saying the envisioned project was not feasible at the Bogey Inn site. She added that the company remains interested in pursuing a golf-related concept elsewhere under the Rise Brands umbrella, but gave no timeline or location for any future plans.

The collapse of the project closes out a development arc that began in January 2025 and attracted significant attention in the Dublin and Shawnee Hills communities, both of which had viewed the historic bar's revival as a long-overdue restoration of a local landmark.

What Rise Brands Had Planned for the Bogey Inn in Dublin

Rise had announced in January 2025 that it planned to reopen The Bogey Inn as a new year-round venue featuring indoor and outdoor bars, a food hall, live entertainment, and a 36-hole putting course. The concept was developed in collaboration with the Memorial Tournament, the annual PGA Tour event held at Muirfield Village Golf Club, and was positioned as a destination for both golf fans and casual visitors.

In March 2025, Dublin's planning and zoning commission voiced support for the concept but urged tweaks to the site design. Rise emphasized to commissioners that it aimed to honour the original Bogey Inn's legacy, dating back decades as a neighbourhood institution and the informal "19th hole" for Memorial Tournament visitors.

The Bogey Inn permanently shuttered in 2022 after previous owner Jeff Parenteau died, then briefly reopened in 2023 and again in the summer of 2024 for the Memorial Tournament. The inn subsequently auctioned off more than 800 items, branded tables and chairs, signage, kitchenware and more, ahead of the building's demolition. The property at 6013 Glick Road is now owned by MVGC-BI LLC, an entity connected to Muirfield Village Golf Club, which acquired the site in 2023. The future of the site remains undetermined as of late May 2026.

Viva Mexican Kitchen Takes Over Nada's Arena District Space

In the Arena District, a new concept called Viva Mexican Kitchen has taken over the space most recently occupied by Nada, the Mexican restaurant that closed in May after a decade in business. Viva Mexican Kitchen is targeting a spring opening at the address, stepping into a site that carries both the name recognition of its predecessor and the foot traffic that the Arena District's proximity to Nationwide Arena consistently generates.

Wolf's Ridge Brewing Revamps the Worthington Inn Restaurant

In Worthington, Wolf's Ridge Brewing is leading a revival of the historic Worthington Inn restaurant at 649 High St., expanding the Columbus brewery's craft food and beverage programme into one of central Ohio's most architecturally distinctive restaurant spaces. Wolf's Ridge has described its vision as building on what the Worthington Inn has always represented, a gathering place anchored in tradition and community, rather than replacing it with something unrelated to the location's identity.

Ray Ray's BBQ Expands to Johnstown; Smash N Eatz Opens in Reynoldsburg

Ray Ray's, the Columbus BBQ institution, is expanding its standalone restaurant presence with a new location at 49½ S. Main St. in Johnstown, continuing the brand's push from food truck roots into a multi-location brick-and-mortar operation. In Reynoldsburg, Smash N Eatz is opening inside Eastside Brewing Co. at 1421 Davidson Drive, taking over the space previously occupied by the American comfort food restaurant Slab Kitchen, pairing the burger format with the brewing company's existing taproom audience.

The combination of new openings, expansions, and the unresolved Bogey Inn situation reflects the continued dynamism, and occasional uncertainty, of central Ohio's restaurant market in 2026, as developers, operators, and communities navigate the economics of new construction, changing consumer habits, and the enduring pull of beloved local institutions.
