ADELAIDE, June 15, 2026 — Adelaide firm Studio Gram has won the hospitality honour at the 2026 Australian Interior Design Awards for its fit-out of city restaurant Omada Bar & Grill. The Brompton-based practice claimed the national category at a gala held at Sofitel Sydney Wentworth on June 12.
The result places the Adelaide studio at the front of one of the country's most contested design fields, ahead of entries from every state. Studio Gram shared the hospitality category with Queensland practice J.AR Office, recognised for its interiors at Marlowe bistrot in South Brisbane.

Omada sits on Currie Street and serves Greek-inspired food built around charcoal-cooked meat and vegetables, fresh seafood, Greek wine and cocktails. The restaurant opened in late 2025 under hospitality operator Simon Kardachi.
The awards jury praised the venue's restrained styling, saying the design "exudes a sense of nostalgia in its thoughtfully nuanced design" with subtle nods to a Greek aesthetic. Studio Gram, founded in 2014 by directors Dave Bickmore and Graham Charbonneau, has built its name largely on hospitality work across Australia.
South Australia collects further design honours
Studio Gram was not the only local name recognised on the night. JPE Design Studio took the best commercial interior design award for South Australia for its role in the new Adelaide Aquatic Centre in North Adelaide.
Designer Simone Haag won the state's best residential interior design award for a renovation of a heritage Adelaide house known as Craigweil. The two results gave South Australia a presence across both commercial and residential categories.
A competitive national field
Organisers said 288 projects reached the shortlist this year, spanning residential, retail, hospitality, public, workplace and installation design. The program also carried categories for Sustainability Advancement and Emerging Interior Design Practice.
The jury said the strongest entries showed innovation and authenticity through material choices and detailing, adding that "the high calibre of entries again surpassed expectations." Practice Woods Bagot took the top honour, the Premier Award for Australian Interior Design, for The Forest at the University of Tasmania's Hobart campus.
