AUSTIN, Texas — Starwood Hotels has appointed David Duran as General Manager of 1 Hotel Austin, placing a luxury hotel operations specialist with more than 20 years of experience at the helm of the property ahead of its August 2026 opening.
Duran will oversee all aspects of hotel operations and guide the property through its pre-opening phase.
David Duran Joins 1 Hotel Austin From Pendry San Diego
Duran joins from Pendry San Diego under Montage International, where he served as General Manager of a 317-key property with six food and beverage outlets, leading a team of more than 500 associates. He also supported multiple task force initiatives with Montage International, helping opening teams develop operational processes and brand standards for Pendry properties.
His background spans luxury hotel operations and food and beverage leadership across more than two decades.
Pre-Opening Role Positions Austin Debut as Brand Landmark
Starwood Hotels CEO Raul Leal highlighted Duran's background in hotel openings as central to his appointment. "David brings experience in luxury hotel operations and openings," Leal said. "We look forward to his impact as we elevate the guest experience and expand our portfolio."
