Paradisus Cancún resort renovation 2026 has given one of Mexico's best known all inclusive hotels a fresh start. On 18 October 2026, Meliá inaugurated the new era of the resort, which first opened in 1986. The group invested 50 million euros in the project. The resort closed from June 2025 until early April 2026. It has kept its famous white pyramids but reworked its suites, spa and restaurants.

Paradisus Cancún resort renovation 2026 Honors a 1986 Legacy

Gabriel Escarrer Juliá, the founder of Meliá, created the resort in 1986. It was the group's first address in the Mexican Caribbean. His son Gabriel Escarrer, now chairman and chief executive, said the investment deepens the legacy his father left. Meliá says the funds should improve the guest experience and strengthen long term value.

The project is part of a wider strategy with partner owners and co investors. Meliá has spent nearly 1,000 million euros on more than 90 hotels in recent years. It also cites more than 650 indirect jobs among suppliers in Quintana Roo. The inauguration evening ended with fireworks and drones spelling out The Icon Is Back.

Suites, Families and The Reserve for Adults

The renovation covered suites, spa, sports facilities, restaurants and family areas. Suites range from 44 to 319 m². Options run from the Junior Suite to the 133 m² Governor Suite and the Presidential Suite. The resort stays open to families. It offers a Family Concierge lounge, the Aquazone water park and the Kidsdom kids club for ages 4 to 12. Only The Reserve area is limited to guests aged 18 and over.

The Paradisus Cancún YHI Spa offers heated treatment rooms, a water ritual, sauna and hammam. A new Longevity Suite focuses on rest and recovery. The YHI Moves room is open 24 hours a day. It offers sound baths, yoga, Pilates, indoor cycling and ice baths.

The resort has nine restaurants and seven bars. Vibra and the Japanese venue Kao are new. Sal, Cappella and Agua Marina have been reimagined. Santé serves Mediterranean cuisine to guests of The Reserve. Cultural activities include copal incense workshops, tequila tastings and Mexican themed shows.

Beach, Sports and Sustainability

Kanna Beach Club offers Balinese beds and stays open to the public. The resort also has a nine hole golf course for an extra charge, four pickleball courts and 26 event rooms. Its sea turtle program has protected more than 175,000 eggs in three years. In 2026 the hotel earned Ecostars Bronze certification.

How Much Does a Night Cost

On 23 October 2026, a night for 19 to 20 November cost 593 euros for two adults, all inclusive, in a 44 m² Junior Suite. That rate was discounted by 19%. National taxes were included and local taxes were extra. The Reserve started at 613 euros that night.
