Delta Air Lines has announced several leadership appointments including Peter Carter as President, Dan Janki as Chief Operating Officer, and Erik Snell as Chief Financial Officer.
Delta Air Lines Announces Major Leadership Appointments
Delta Air Lines has announced a series of leadership appointments as part of a strategic executive reshuffle aimed at strengthening the airline’s leadership team and preparing for its next phase of growth.
The changes come as several senior executives transition into new roles and others prepare for retirement, marking an important moment in the company’s leadership evolution.
Peter Carter Named President
As part of the leadership changes, Peter Carter has been appointed President of Delta Air Lines. In this role, Carter will oversee enterprise strategy while continuing to manage responsibilities related to global policy, legal affairs, international strategy, sustainability, and corporate real estate.
Carter succeeds Glen Hauenstein, who recently retired after nearly a decade serving as the airline’s president.
Dan Janki Appointed Chief Operating Officer
Dan Janki, previously Delta’s Chief Financial Officer, has been promoted to Chief Operating Officer. In this role, he will oversee the airline’s day‑to‑day operational functions, including flight operations, airport customer service, in‑flight service, reservations, customer care, and safety and compliance.
Janki’s appointment follows the planned retirement of longtime operations chief John Laughter, who will step down after more than three decades with the company.
Erik Snell Named Chief Financial Officer
Erik Snell will assume the role of Chief Financial Officer, succeeding Janki. Snell previously served as Chief Customer Experience Officer and brings extensive experience across Delta’s finance and operational teams.
In his new position, Snell will oversee the airline’s finance organisation as well as fleet and supply chain operations.
Additional Leadership Changes
Delta also announced that Ranjan Goswami will take on the expanded role of Chief Marketing and Product Officer, following the departure of Alicia Tillman. In addition, Alain Bellemare, President of International, will assume additional responsibilities as Chairman of Delta TechOps.
All of the newly appointed executives will report directly to CEO Ed Bastian.
Preparing for the Future
According to the company, the leadership changes reflect Delta’s commitment to developing internal talent and strengthening the executive team as the airline continues to evolve in a competitive global aviation market.
The new appointments are expected to take effect on April 1 and are part of a broader leadership transition designed to position the airline for long‑term operational and strategic success.
