2 cruise liners bring thousands of tourists to Maldives

Thousands of tourists have arrived in the Maldives aboard two cruise liners, MS Norwegian Sky and MS Riviera.

MS Norwegian Sky, registered in the Bahamas, docked in Male on Sunday. The vessel, carrying 1,872 passengers, is set to depart Monday evening. This marks the second cruise liner to arrive in the Maldives this season. The ship arrived in the Maldives after visiting two ports in Seychelles and is scheduled to continue its journey to Phuket, Thailand.

MS Riviera, registered in the Marshall Islands, arrived in Male on Monday with a capacity of 2,004 passengers. Hundreds of tourists from the cruise liner have disembarked. The ship is scheduled to leave Male on Tuesday. Similar to the Norwegian Sky, MS Riviera also traveled to the Maldives after docking in Seychelles and will proceed to its next destination in Sri Lanka.

These cruise liners contribute to the significant influx of tourists arriving in the Maldives this year, with the total exceeding 2 million. Additionally, the number of flights arriving in the Maldives has increased by 8% compared to the previous year.
