MUMBAI, May 28, 2026: Shelter6, the premium vodka brand co-founded by rapper and entrepreneur Badshah alongside Mokksh Sani of Cartel Bros, is moving into an aggressive multi-market expansion phase, targeting eight cities, Delhi, Lucknow, Chandigarh, Pune, Nagpur, Nashik, Indore and Haryana. The push comes off the back of early numbers that give the expansion a credible commercial foundation: Rs 10 crore in revenue, 4,000 cases sold and distribution across 700 retail outlets nationwide as of March 2026.
Those numbers matter because they are not projections. They represent actual sell-through from a brand that launched into a vodka market already crowded with established domestic labels, international imports and the permanent background noise of category marketing. Shelter6 found 700 retail doors and 4,000 case sales in its opening phase without the brand's name being obscured by its celebrity association, the reverse, in fact. Badshah's fanbase is a real commercial asset, and the question has never been whether the brand can generate opening interest. It is whether it can generate repeat purchase, trade loyalty and the kind of on-trade visibility that sustains a premium vodka label through the first years when novelty alone stops driving volume.
Shelter6 Vodka Expansion Into Eight Indian Markets After Strong Early Revenue Performance
The eight markets targeted in this expansion phase represent a mix of tier-one cities with established vodka consumption bases and tier-two markets where premium spirits penetration is growing faster than in the metros. Delhi is the largest single opportunity, India's most competitive spirits market, where brand presence in the right venues matters more than almost anywhere else in the country. Chandigarh punches well above its population size on per-capita premium spirits consumption. Pune sits at the centre of Maharashtra's young professional drinking culture, complementing the brand's existing Maharashtra presence.
Lucknow, Nagpur, Nashik and Indore represent the tier-two dimension of the expansion, cities where a nationally visible brand with strong cultural credentials can establish early market leadership before the competitive field fills in. Haryana, already in the brand's existing state footprint, is being deepened rather than opened from scratch.
Badshah on What This Phase of Expansion Is Actually About
Badshah was specific about the intent behind the eight-market push, framing it as a cultural and commercial engagement effort rather than simply a distribution exercise.
"For us, expansion isn't just about entering new cities, it's about building a real connection with each market. India is incredibly diverse, and every city has its own energy. With this next phase, we want Shelter6 to feel just as relevant in Delhi or Chandigarh as it does in Mumbai, on the ground, in the culture, and in how people experience the brand."
— Badshah, Co-Founder, Shelter6
The phrase "on the ground, in the culture" is the operating principle behind Shelter6's marketing approach, which has been built around bar takeovers, event integrations and on-trade visibility rather than conventional advertising. That strategy has driven the brand's early traction in its existing markets and is the model being replicated across the eight new cities. A vodka brand with Badshah's name behind it does not need to explain itself at a bar activation, it needs to show up at the right bars, with the right execution, in front of the right audience.
Mokksh Sani on International Ambition and the Scalability of Shelter6
Mokksh Sani, Founder of Living Liquidz and Mansionz, and Co-Founder of Cartel Bros, spoke about where the brand is heading beyond India's domestic market, and what the early performance signals about its longer-term commercial ceiling.
"The early performance of Shelter6 reinforces our belief that there is a strong appetite for premium spirits that combine global standards with local relevance. From retail uptake to duty-free presence, the brand has shown remarkable agility. As we push into new cities, we see Shelter6 evolving into a scalable international label with India firmly at its core."
— Mokksh Sani, Co-Founder, Cartel Bros and Founder, Living Liquidz & Mansionz
The mention of duty-free presence alongside domestic retail is a quiet but significant detail. Duty-free visibility at Indian airports is one of the highest-visibility brand-building channels available to a spirits label in India, it puts the product in front of frequent travellers, NRIs and international visitors at a moment when premium purchase intent is highest and price sensitivity is lowest. Getting shelf space in duty-free while simultaneously expanding across eight domestic markets is a two-track strategy that very few new Indian spirits brands have been able to execute concurrently.
24 More States in the Licensing Pipeline
Shelter6 currently holds approvals in Maharashtra, Goa, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana. Registrations are progressing across 24 additional states and union territories, including Rajasthan, Punjab and Tamil Nadu, a pipeline that, if completed, would give the brand national distribution coverage in the markets that drive Indian premium spirits volume.
The Cartel Bros leadership team, Mokksh and Manesh Sani alongside Jitin Merani and Rohan Nihalani, brings the distribution relationships, on-trade network and execution infrastructure that Badshah's name alone could not create. That combination of celebrity cultural equity and professional distribution capability is what distinguishes Shelter6 from the celebrity spirits brands that have launched in India and found that awareness does not automatically convert into retail shelf presence and on-trade pouring agreements.
The eight-market expansion is the test of whether the model that worked in Maharashtra and Goa carries to markets with different trade cultures, different consumer profiles and different competitive landscapes. If it does, the 24-state pipeline and the international ambition Mokksh Sani articulated become the next chapter of the Shelter6 story.
