Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts Maldives celebrates Earth Day 2025 with action-focused activities

In celebration of Earth Day 2025, Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts Maldives brought together guests and team members across its island properties for a series of impactful initiatives that echoed this year’s theme: “Our Power, Our Planet.” Each resort marked the occasion with activities designed to honour nature, promote sustainability, and protect the fragile ecosystems that surround them.

At Ellaidhoo Maldives by Cinnamon, Earth Day was marked with a purposeful reef and seabed cleanup. While the resort already enforces strict policies against the use of plastic, polythene, and fishing nets, ocean currents often bring in ghost nets and marine debris from elsewhere. Staff and volunteers took to the water, carefully removing entangled waste from the corals and ocean floor, an act of environmental guardianship that directly supports the health and longevity of the island’s thriving reef. For the resort, every effort counts in the broader mission to sustain marine life and inspire responsible tourism.

Over at Cinnamon Hakuraa Huraa Maldives, the day began with a tree-planting session along the beach, with enthusiastic participation from in-house guests and resort colleagues. The activity symbolised a shared commitment to nurturing a greener future, as saplings took root under Maldivian skies. Later that evening, the resort hosted an informative presentation for guests, highlighting the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) projects implemented over the past year. It was an opportunity to reflect on progress, reinforce the resort’s sustainability values, and inspire further engagement.

At Cinnamon Velifushi Maldives, both land and sea were the focus of Earth Day initiatives. A reef cleanup effort complemented the planting of trees on the island, reinforcing the resort’s dual dedication to protecting marine biodiversity and enhancing terrestrial green spaces. These hands-on efforts reflected the resort’s belief in proactive, ongoing stewardship of its natural surroundings.
