IHG Signs Garner Hotel Jim Corbett, Opening in Uttarakhand 2027
IHG Hotels & Resorts has signed the 50-key Garner Hotel Jim Corbett in Ramnagar, Uttarakhand, set to open in Q2 2027 with United Hospitality Management.
Fifty rooms set into the forested edge of Ramnagar, within reach of the tiger reserves and river valleys that draw travelers to Jim Corbett National Park, will soon carry a name new to the Indian hospitality map. Garner Hotel Jim Corbett has been signed by IHG Hotels & Resorts, marking another step in the brand's steady arrival across the country.
IHG Hotels & Resorts announced the signing on Wednesday, confirming that the hotel is owned by Victorian Corporation and will be managed by United Hospitality Management India. Scheduled to open in the second quarter of 2027, the fifty key property will sit in Ramnagar, Uttarakhand, positioned as a gateway address for travelers heading into Jim Corbett National Park, one of India's oldest and most visited wildlife reserves.
A Brand Finding Its Footing in India
Garner is among the newer additions to IHG's portfolio in India, and this signing adds to what the company describes as early but consistent momentum for the brand within the country. Sudeep Jain, Managing Director for South West Asia at IHG Hotels & Resorts, framed the deal in terms of that broader trajectory. "Garner's rapid momentum in India reflects the strong fit between the brand's proposition and the needs of both owners and travellers in the market," Jain said. The comment points to a strategy less about a single hotel than about testing whether a newer brand concept can find consistent demand across different Indian markets, from metro cities to destinations built around nature and wildlife tourism.
Jim Corbett as a Growing Hospitality Address
Ramnagar has long served as the entry point for travelers visiting Jim Corbett National Park, but its hotel landscape has historically leaned toward independent lodges and resorts rather than internationally branded properties. A fifty key IHG managed hotel introduces a different kind of option for travelers who want the consistency of a global brand alongside proximity to the park, reflecting a wider pattern of branded hospitality groups extending into India's wildlife and nature tourism circuit rather than concentrating only on metro and business travel demand.
Part of a Larger Expansion Push
The Garner Jim Corbett signing sits within a much larger expansion effort. IHG currently operates fifty three hotels across seven brands in India, and the company has said it expects a pipeline of 110 hotels to open over the next three to five years. That scale of planned growth places the Jim Corbett signing as one entry within a broader, sustained push into both established and emerging Indian markets, a pattern echoed elsewhere in the industry as international groups look toward destination focused properties, much like the layered guest experience built around Raffles Udaipur's private island setting, where the destination itself becomes central to a hotel's identity.
What the Opening Will Mean
With the hotel still roughly two years from opening, much about its design, dining and specific guest experience remains to be shared. What is clear from the signing itself is the direction IHG is taking with the Garner brand in India, using smaller footprint properties to reach destinations that larger flagship hotels might overlook. Further details on the group's Indian portfolio are available through IHG's official website.
For Ramnagar, the arrival of an internationally branded hotel is likely to register less as a single announcement than as part of a slower shift already underway, one in which India's wildlife tourism corridors are increasingly viewed by global hospitality groups not as peripheral markets, but as destinations worth building for.
