$250 Million Kempinski Hotel Project Iraq Under Discussion with NIC
$250 Million Kempinski Hotel Project Iraq is under discussion with the NIC, covering hotel rooms, villas, residences and event facilities.
$250 Million Kempinski Hotel Project Iraq is under discussion, as the country's National Investment Commission (NIC) explores a luxury hotel complex to be operated by hospitality group Kempinski. The talks followed a meeting with a team headed by Iraqi businessman and banking investor Jawad Al-Kassab. The project is still at the negotiation stage.
$250 Million Kempinski Hotel Project Iraq Concept
According to an NIC statement, Chairman Adel Dakhil Mohammed al-Yasiri met with Al-Kassab and his investment partners. They discussed potential in the Iraq hospitality industry 2026. The preliminary concept covers a hotel and residential complex on roughly 20 to 30 dunams of land.
The plan includes hotel rooms, private villas, serviced residential units, and conference and event facilities. The site has not been specified. No development timeline or formal investment agreement has been declared.
Who Is Jawad Al-Kassab?
Al-Kassab has vast expertise in international property development and hotel investment. He is the founder and chairman of Jawad Al Kassab International Holding Group. The group has assets in the Middle East, Europe and North America.
His portfolio includes the Kempinski Hotel Ishtar Dead Sea and Kempinski Hotel Aqaba in Jordan. It also includes assets in Saudi Arabia, Switzerland, Canada and the United Arab Emirates. Within Iraq, he has taken part in the Al-Kawthar residential development in Babil governorate. This shows his long involvement in the country's housing and building industries.
Banking Role Links Investment to Iraq's Growth
Al-Kassab is also active in Iraq's financial industry. He serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Arab Bank Iraq. This links his investing operations to the growth of the private banking sector.
The bank began operations as a private Iraqi shareholding business in 2025. It received its final banking license in 2024. It has set up a headquarters in Baghdad's Jadriyah area. It also plans to grow its branch network and digital banking services.
Iraq Tourism Investment Gets Official Backing
If the Kempinski development goes forward, it will be another significant hospitality investment in Al-Kassab's Iraq portfolio. The NIC said it is ready to assist and facilitate the project's processes. Iraq wants private investment in tourism, hotels and supporting infrastructure.
The proposed complex would combine accommodation, residences and event space in one development. Such a mix can serve business travellers, long stay guests and organisers of conferences. For now, the plan remains a concept. Further details on the site, timeline and agreement are yet to be announced.
Readers can find more details about the brand on the official Kempinski website.
