SANTINIKETAN — MAYFAIR Group has signed a new premium retreat in Santiniketan under its MAYFAIR Elixir brand, in partnership with WESTROAD Group, marking the hospitality chain's entry into the cultural town synonymous with Rabindranath Tagore's legacy.

The upcoming property will be developed as a premium retreat blending contemporary hospitality with Santiniketan's cultural heritage, targeting leisure travellers, cultural enthusiasts, and guests seeking venues for intimate celebrations, with personalised experiences aligned with the MAYFAIR brand.

The signing was announced during Jagannath Rath Yatra and reflects the group's continued expansion across culturally significant destinations in Eastern India. MAYFAIR said the project reinforces its long-term strategy of growing its portfolio in destinations with strong tourism potential and regional heritage.

WESTROAD Group's Vision

Rajendra Chatterjee, CEO and Managing Director of WESTROAD Group, which owns the property, described Santiniketan as an emotion that celebrates creativity, learning and Tagore's legacy, and said the group sought a hospitality partner capable of preserving that essence while delivering strong guest experiences — a role he said MAYFAIR's regional expertise made a natural fit.

MAYFAIR's Strategic Push Into Eastern India

Randhir Gupta, Vice President – Commercial & Business Development at MAYFAIR Hotels & Resorts, said Santiniketan has long been a celebrated cultural destination that remains underserved in the premium hospitality segment, calling the signing a strategic addition that lets the group introduce its brand experience to a destination of global significance.

Bjorn DeNiese, Managing Director of MAYFAIR Elixir, said the signing marks an important chapter in the brand's growth, with its focus on creating experiences that reflect the unique cultural identity of each destination rather than simply expanding footprint. He added that Santiniketan's legacy of art, literature and learning aligns with what modern travellers increasingly seek.

What's Next

DeNiese said MAYFAIR Elixir has additional destinations, hospitality concepts and strategic partnerships in the pipeline as the company continues expanding its portfolio across India.
