Radisson Hotel Group plans to expand its presence in India from approximately 200 operational and pipeline hotels to 500 properties, as part of a multi-year growth strategy announced in 2026, company executives said, targeting increased demand across business and leisure travel segments in key urban and regional markets.

The expansion plan focuses on scaling operations across major metropolitan cities as well as tier-two and tier-three locations, where rising domestic travel demand and infrastructure development are driving new hotel development opportunities, the company said.

Expansion targets and timeline

Radisson said it aims to more than double its footprint in India over the coming years, increasing its portfolio to 500 hotels through a combination of new developments, management agreements and franchise partnerships. The company confirmed that the current portfolio includes operational properties and projects under development.

Executives said the growth will be phased, with a focus on steady additions to the pipeline in alignment with market demand and project feasibility. The company did not disclose a fixed completion date but indicated that expansion efforts are already underway across multiple regions.

Focus on emerging markets

The company said a significant portion of new developments will be located in tier-two and tier-three cities, where demand for branded accommodation is increasing. These markets are being driven by improved connectivity, regional business activity and domestic tourism growth.

Radisson said it is identifying locations with limited supply of organized hotel inventory, aiming to capture first-mover advantages in emerging destinations. The company added that secondary markets are expected to contribute a substantial share of future portfolio growth.

Brand and segment strategy

The expansion plan includes multiple brands across segments, ranging from mid-scale to upper-upscale categories. The company said it will deploy different brands based on location-specific demand, targeting business travelers, leisure guests and extended-stay segments.

Radisson added that it will continue to expand its presence through management contracts and franchise models, allowing asset owners to partner with the group while leveraging its brand and operational systems.

Operational planning includes integration of reservation systems, loyalty programs and standardized service procedures across new properties, the company said.

India market context

India remains one of Radisson’s key growth markets globally, supported by increasing travel demand, economic expansion and ongoing infrastructure development. The company said domestic travel continues to drive occupancy levels, while international arrivals are also contributing to growth.

Industry participants have reported rising interest from investors in the hospitality sector, particularly in cities with expanding commercial activity and tourism potential. Radisson said it is working with local developers to support project execution and market entry.

Development pipeline and partnerships

The company said it is actively engaging with real estate developers and investors to expand its pipeline, with several projects currently in planning and construction stages. Agreements are being structured to align with regional requirements and operational standards.

Radisson added that project timelines will vary depending on location, regulatory approvals and construction progress, with phased openings expected as developments are completed.

Current status

The expansion strategy has been formally outlined, with ongoing development activity across multiple Indian markets. The company said additional project announcements and partnership agreements are expected as it progresses toward its long-term target of 500 hotels in the country.
