GUWAHATI, June 14, 2026 — Fat Belly, a local food startup known for its Pan Asian and Asian-inspired menu, opens its third restaurant in Guwahati today, adding to its existing outlets in Dighalipukhuri and Uzan Bazaar and expanding dining choices in the city. The new outlet, located near Gauhati Commerce College, is designed to serve quick bites as well as full meals for lunch and dinner.
The founders said the expansion reflects steady demand from city residents and visitors. “We are pleased to bring more options to diners in Guwahati,” said Dhiraj Deka, co-founder of Fat Belly. “The new location gives us greater reach, including enhanced home delivery coverage across the city.”
Fat Belly restaurant adds variety to local food scene
The third restaurant is the largest among the Fat Belly locations, with seating for approximately seventy-five guests. It joins the existing outlets that have gained a following for their momo varieties and Asian dishes. The menu includes a range of vegetarian and non-vegetarian items that blend regional tastes with Pan Asian influences, catering to diverse customer preferences.
Co-founder Parixit Bhattacharjee said the brand continues to evolve its offerings. “We carefully curate our menu to give customers taste choices that go beyond traditional quick-serve options,” Bhattacharjee said, highlighting additions such as curated Thai-inspired dishes and rice and noodle combinations.
Fat Belly began as a startup venture by alumni of engineering programs who returned to Assam after working in major Indian cities. The first restaurant opened in Dighalipukhuri in early 2017, followed by a second outlet in Uzan Bazaar later that year. The founders expanded the business in response to positive customer reception.
The new restaurant joins a growing list of dining establishments across Guwahati as the city’s foodscape continues to diversify. Industry observers note that local eateries blend traditional flavours with international influences as restaurants seek to attract diners in a competitive market.
