MUMBAI, June 15, 2026 — A wave of new restaurants in Mumbai and neighbouring Pune is expanding dining choices for residents and visitors this summer, with a mix of casual cafés, themed bars and full-service restaurants now open across the region.

Local hospitality groups and national brands have launched fresh venues in key areas, bringing diverse food and drink formats to the city and its nearby Pune counterpart. The developments reflect ongoing growth in lifestyle and food-and-beverage sectors in Maharashtra’s major urban centres.

New restaurants in Mumbai add themed dining and community spaces

In the heart of Mumbai, several venues have opened in recent months. Dessert Therapy has launched a sixth outlet in Oshiwara, introducing a café-style menu that pairs savoury dishes with desserts and speciality beverages. The new format broadens its dining appeal beyond sweets alone.

A contemporary dining destination, Nova House, opened in Mira Road with multi-cuisine offerings, a lounge and bar space that aims to cater to everyday meals and celebratory occasions.

Aaomi By Shiloh debuted Mumbai’s first moon and galaxy-themed restaurant at Sky City Mall, Borivali, combining interstellar ambience with global-inspired cuisine and crafted cocktails. 

Meanwhile Punjab Grill expanded its footprint with a new outlet in the same mall, adding to Mumbai’s roster of North Indian fine-dining options.

On Bandra’s café scene, Bobakat opened a new location featuring boba teas and savoury waffles, adding to the area’s casual daytime dining options.

Bars and brewpubs expand suburban drink options

Belapur’s new Effingut brewpub offers 14 tap beers and indoor-outdoor seating as part of the city’s growing craft beer culture.

Pune sees rapid expansion of quick-service chains and recognised eateries

Across the expressway in Pune, the fast-food segment has grown with the simultaneous launch of three new Popeyes outlets in Phoenix Market City, Seasons Mall and Elpro City Mall.

The city also gained global recognition through Rosso, a fine-dining Italian restaurant in Hotel Irada, recently named among the world’s most beautiful restaurants for 2026. 

Additionally, the established Shiv Sagar Group added its third Pune restaurant in Kothrud, expanding its vegetarian and Indian cuisine offerings locally. 

Food brands and local entrepreneurs continue to invest in Pune’s hospitality sector, with offerings ranging from quick service to premium experiences, reflecting a diversification of the city’s food-and-drink landscape.
