MUMBAI, July 6, 2026 — The sisters behind, Chef Afshaa Rajqotwala and Nousheen Rajqotwala, are steering one of Mumbai’s most talked-about pasta bars with a simple focus on handmade pasta and hospitable service in Bandra’s Pali Hill neighbourhood.

Since opening in early 2025, the pasta bar has drawn steady queues at lunch and dinner, a sign of its traction among locals and visitors alike. The bar has expanded from its original 28 seats to more than 60 in response to demand, while keeping the same menu philosophy and community feel.

Handmade Pasta and Local Roots

Afshaa, who leads culinary direction, and Nousheen, who shapes operations and guest experience, built Pomodoro on years of hospitality experience. The sisters aimed to create approachable Italian food centered on hand-rolled pasta and consistent execution.

“We wanted a space where food wasn’t overcomplicated and every guest felt welcome,” Afshaa said in a recent interview, noting that fresh ingredients and focused execution are core to their offering.

Neighbourhood Dining in Bandra

Pomodoro’s location on 16th Road in Bandra West was deliberate, the founders said, matching Mumbai’s vibrant dining culture with their relaxed pasta bar concept. The open kitchen and intimate layout reinforce a neighbourhood café feel rather than a formal restaurant setting.

Nousheen highlighted that hospitality extends beyond food to every touchpoint, from welcome to atmosphere to menu design. Their approach has helped build a loyal base of repeat diners.

Growth and Community Focus

The sisters emphasize growth that respects their values, adding space rather than changing the concept. The expanded venue includes a dedicated barista counter alongside its pasta offerings, with no change in core menu identity.

Regulars note that while reservations are not taken and waits can form at peak times, many still return for signature dishes and the welcoming vibe. Reviews highlight pasta and coffee as key draws, though opinions on individual dishes vary.

Looking Ahead

For Afshaa, the greatest validation comes when guests return by choice. “Success is about making this place part of the neighbourhood’s rhythm,” she said.

Nousheen echoed that sentiment, saying the focus remains on serving quality pasta, fostering connections, and nurturing Pomodoro’s place in Bandra’s dining scene.
