Among this year’s nominees is Umesh Sachdeva, Human Resources Director at Alivaa Hotels & Resorts, Gurugram.
A seasoned hospitality HR professional, Umesh Sachdeva brings a comprehensive background in HR operations, employee relations, and organisational development. With experience spanning luxury hotels, branded hospitality groups, and multi-unit operations, he has consistently contributed to building compliant, engaged, and performance-driven work cultures.
Currently serving as Human Resources Manager at Alivaa Hotels & Resorts, Gurugram, Umesh plays a critical role in developing and implementing HR policies and procedures aligned with organisational goals and labour law compliance. He works closely with senior leadership to drive organisational culture initiatives, strengthen employee engagement, and improve retention outcomes. His involvement during the pre-opening phase included establishing HR frameworks, recruitment strategies, and people processes to support smooth operational readiness.
Prior to this, Umesh was associated with Holiday Inn Gurugram Sector 90 as Human Resources Manager, where he led talent acquisition, onboarding, payroll coordination, and budgeting processes. His role focused on attracting high-calibre hospitality professionals while ensuring accurate compensation structures and adherence to organisational standards.
His career foundation was built over five years with The Lemon Tree Hotel Company at Aerocity, where he handled core HR operations, employee engagement initiatives, compliance management, and workforce coordination. Earlier roles with Barista Coffee Company, Awesome Farms & Resorts, and Domino’s further strengthened his understanding of large workforce management, frontline employee engagement, and service-oriented HR practices.
Academically, Umesh holds a PGDM in Human Resources Management from the Institute of Management Technology, Ghaziabad, and a Bachelor’s degree in Hotel Management & Catering Technology from BCIHMCT, Delhi. His education has equipped him with strong grounding in organisational behaviour, change management, and hospitality service excellence.
Umesh’s core competencies include HR policy development, employee engagement, payroll administration, labour law compliance, HR metrics reporting, and leadership support. Known for his structured approach and strong communication skills, he is committed to fostering supportive work environments that enable both employee growth and business success.
