Capella Hotel Group has appointed Pierre Chidiac as General Manager of Capella Nanjing, ahead of the property’s opening in early 2027. The appointment comes as the group continues to expand its presence across Asia.

Pierre Chidiac to Spearhead Capella Nanjing Pre-Opening Strategy

Pierre Chidiac will lead Capella Nanjing during its pre-opening phase, leading overall hotel management, team development, and guest services. His role includes establishing operational frameworks, aligning service standards with the brand’s rapport, and preparing the property for its debut.

The appointment comes with Capella Hotel Group’s expansion strategy in Asia, with the Nanjing property representing a key addition to its China portfolio. 

Property Details and Location Context

Capella Nanjing is located adjacent to Changjiang Road, an area known for its historical significance. The hotel is situated within walking distance of major landmarks, including the Presidential Palace, placing it in a culturally significant part of the city.

The development has been designed by David Chipperfield Architects Shanghai and integrates 185 guestrooms, including 30 heritage suites, alongside a 76-key residences component. The property is set within Meiyuan Village and incorporates landscaped gardens anchored by a 360-year-old ginkgo tree, forming a central feature of the guest environment. The design also includes the brand’s signature “Living Room” concept, a social and communal space present across Capella properties.

Experience Across China’s Hospitality Market

Pierre Chidiac brings more than 15 years of hospitality experience. Prior to this, he served as General Manager at MGallery Hotel Collection in Nanjing, where he was responsible for overseeing hotel operations and guest service delivery.

His professional background also includes leadership roles with Sofitel and Raffles hotels in China. This exposure has contributed to his understanding of both operational manageent and guest experience within the Chinese market.

Focus on Guest Experience and Team Leadership

In his new role, Chidiac is expected to prioritise service quality, team engagement, and operational readiness as the property approaches its opening. Known for a people-focused leadership approach, he will work on building and training teams while ensuring alignment with brand standards.

Fluent in multiple languages, including Mandarin, Chidiac brings cross-cultural communication capabilities that support operations in an international hospitality environment. His leadership will focus on delivering consistent service experiences while establishing the property’s operational identity.

Expanding Capella’s Presence in China

Capella Nanjing represents the brand’s third property in China, following Capella Shanghai and Capella Tufu Bay. The addition reflects the group’s continued investment in the region, with a focus on culturally immersive luxury hospitality experiences.
